WHY I QUIT BLOGGING
through "Come Follow Me - The Book of Mormon"
You can still read below each weeks
Book of Mormon chapter summaries
and workbook topics
~~~~~~
Be sure to think about how each week fulfills
the claims made about the Book of Mormon by:
Joseph Smith
said: "The Book of Mormon is
the most
correct book on earth
and the keystone of our religion,
and a man would get nearer to God
by abiding its precepts than any other book."
LDS D&C 20:8,9 says: “the Book of Mormon; …
contains the
fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ…”
Jacob 5,6,7?
Chapter summaries by Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints:
Jacob 5 Jacob quotes Zenos relative to the allegory of the tame and wild olive trees—They are a likeness of Israel and the Gentiles—The scattering and gathering of Israel are prefigured—Allusions are made to the Nephites and Lamanites and all the house of Israel—The Gentiles will be grafted into Israel—Eventually the vineyard will be burned. About 544–421 B.C.
Jacob 6 The Lord will recover Israel in the last days—The world will be burned with fire—Men must follow Christ to avoid the lake of fire and brimstone. About 544–421 B.C.
Jacob 7 Sherem denies Christ, contends with Jacob, demands a sign, and is smitten of God—All of the prophets have spoken of Christ and His Atonement—The Nephites lived out their days as wanderers, born in tribulation, and hated by the Lamanites. About 544–421 B.C.
CFM: (Come Follow Me - Study Guide Topics)
>JNE: (Observations by J Neil Evans)
CFM Week Theme: The Lord Labors With Us
CFM: Jesus Christ is the Lord of the vineyard
>JNE: An idea clearly originating with the Bible. Quoting or using Bible topics and themes does not authenticate the Book of Mormon or any other book that uses Bible words and topics. Wikipedia quotes the Bible in many ways, but that does not prove Wikipedia is always true.
CFM: The Lord invites me to labor with Him in His vineyard
>JNE: How is the physical Jesus laboring in His vineyard today?
CFM: The Lord remembers His people in love and mercy
>JNE: A theme from the Bible - except He does not "remember," He deals presently with love, mercy, righteousness, wisdom, power, all of His attributes simultaneously
CFM: I can stand strong when others challenge my faith in Jesus Christ
>JNE: The question is not can we stand strong, but why we can stand strong?
Looking for TRUTH in "the most correct book on earth"
"the keystone of the LDS Religion"
The Book of Mormon which
"would get a man nearer to God than any other book."
? The only historically demonstrable events I am finding in the Book of Mormon are the ones that Bible references describe.
? - 7:27 "... to the reader I bid farewell, hoping that many of my brethren may read my words, brethren, adieu." Are we expected to believe that "adieu" came from the golden plates or 500 B.C.? It is claimed that perhaps the term was familiar to Joseph Smith and he simply translated the original as such. How many times in Joseph Smiths' writing did Joseph Smith use the word "adieu?" I can't find any other. Of course the "author" of the Book of Mormon could have been familiar with the word.
Looking in these chapters of The Book of Mormon for "The Fullness of the Gospel" "The Restored Gospel" of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
i.e.: The GOSPEL? ... The PLAN OF SALVATION? ... The CHURCH? ... TEMPLES? ... KINGDOMS OF GLORY? ... The GODHEAD?
I don't see anything developing the "fullness of the Gospel."
