Are you cautious about who you follow?

I grew up in Eastern Idaho and now live in Western Idaho among many people who consider themselves to be "Saints." Few people regard themselves to be saints in the common sense of "extraordinarily holy." But the Bible certainly calls God's People "saints." What does being a "saint" really mean?

I am retired after being a pastor for nearly 50 years. I am old enough to have asked a lot of questions about the Bible and what it means to belong to God and to be a Christian, a saint.

My motive in sharing this website is to challenge myself and others to think more seriously about the LIFE Jesus said He came to give us. Reading and pondering the Bible helps me see God and my relationship with Him from His perspective.

I sincerely want to be a true Saint of God, not as an achievement but as a blessed gift from His Gracious heart to my needy life. I share these pages with the hope that you too will think more seriously about the kind of life you have and the kind of LIFE Jesus said He came to give you.

My wife, Diane, and I live near Boise, Idaho. We have two adult children and five grandchildren. I would enjoy hearing from you.

My Testimony

I believe the Bible is God's true and complete written communication to man. I believe that Jesus Christ, Who is (with The Father and The Holy Spirit) the One Eternal God, Who became a human being for the express purpose of totally paying the death penalty of sin for everyone who wanted Him to do so. I have by faith received Christ's payment for my sin and confidently look forward to spending eternity in the very presence of God. I openly declare that were it left to my obedience, a million years would not be sufficient for me to become worthy of God's love for me. I am overjoyed and indebted by the facts that "as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His Name;" (John 1:12) and "when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that being justified by His grace we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." (Titus 3:4-7) The greatest joys of my life come in serving the God Who loves me so. Any good works I may do for Him I do out of simple gratitude realizing that I could never earn all that He has given and will give me.

I believe the Bible teaches that there is only one way to eternal life and if it is refused in this life there is only an eternal separation from God that remains. If this is true these issues are extremely important and not simply matters for religious discussion.
